At Brew Haus, we have a passion for discovering and sharing the breweries and brews that are part of America’s craft beer movement. Just a few decades ago, Americans drank watered-down boring beers that lacked flavor. Then, in the 80s things changed. Many would attribute the roots of today’s craft beer movement to Jim Koch, the founder of Samuel Adams. In 1984, Koch set out to create a bold new craft beer based on generations-old recipes passed down from the long line of brew masters in his family. After lots of hard work, Koch’s pursuits paid off. His Boston lager became a hit. This first American craft brew set the stage for craft breweries across the country.
Today, there are more than 5200 craft breweries in the U.S., up from just 97 when Koch started Samuel Adams. Every year, craft beer gains more loyal drinkers. Stats released by the Brewers Association show a 6.2% growth in sales volume of craft beers. Overall, craft beer makes up 12.3% of the U.S. market as a 23.5-billion-dollar industry. As craft beer loyalists, we are excited to see the continued growth in this market and love sharing our passion for craft beers with others. Dive on in and read our blog – we’ll share our favorite breweries, teach you what you need to know about different styles of beer, and even talk about pairing your favorite beers with food.
